Description
Christmas revision course for those preparing for A-Level Physics in the summer (AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL).
Course dates: Monday 4th January to Tuesday 5th January 2027
All courses are taught by Karl (yes, the chap in the VideoPlatoAcademy videos), a very experienced and qualified Physics teacher.
This course is online (via Microsoft Teams) and includes:
- A short video to watch and questions to answer in preparation for each lesson. This is on the basics of each topic to ensure that all students start from a similar place.
- Handouts and examples to accompany each lesson
- Questions set between each lesson and marked each day with feedback given
- Six 1 hour lessons (3 per day)
- A half hour tutorial each day for students to ask further questions
- Maximum of 6 students per course
The timings are as follows:
Monday 4th January: Lesson 1 8:30am to 9:30am; Lesson 2 11:30am to 12:30pm; Lesson 3 2:30pm to 3:30pm Tutorial 5:30pm to 6:00pm
Tuesday 5th January: Lesson 4 8:30am to 9:30am; Lesson 5 11:30am to 12:30pm; Lesson 6 2:30pm to 3:30pm Tutorial 5:30pm to 6:00pm
The topics covered will depend upon which course the students are taking and what stage they are at. They may typically include:
- Quantum Mechanics (energy levels, photoelectric effect and wave particle duality)
- Waves
- Particle Physics
- Projectiles, Resolving Forces, Moments and Momentum
- EMF, Internal Resistance, Potential Dividers and Capacitors
- Gases and Thermodynamics
- Nuclear Radiation
- Gravitational, Electric and Magnetic Fields
Please remember that this is a revision course and students will be expected to have some understanding of their work. The preparatory questions and videos will help students revise a basic understanding before we take the ideas further during the lessons. Students can always contact me with questions prior to lessons if they are concerned about any particular topics.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover the complete 2 year course in its entirety in just 2 days.
