Description
Easter revision course for those preparing for either GCSE Physics or IGCSE Physics this summer (also suitable for those taking GCSE Combined Science).
Course dates: Tuesday 14th April to Thursday 16th April 2026
All courses are taught by Karl (yes, the chap in the VideoPlatoAcademy videos), a very experienced and qualified Physics teacher.
This course is online (via zoom) and includes:
- A short video to watch and questions to answer in preparation for each lesson. This is on the basics of each topic to ensure that all students start from a similar place.
- Handouts and examples to accompany each lesson
- Questions set between each lesson and marked each day with feedback given
- Six 1 hour lessons (2 per day)
- A half hour tutorial each day for students to ask further questions
- Maximum of 6 students per course
The timings are as follows:
Tuesday 14th April: Lesson 1 9:30 to 10:30am; Lesson 2 1pm to 2pm; Tutorial 4pm to 4:30pm
Wednesday 15th April: Lesson 3 9:30 to 10:30am; Lesson 4 1pm to 2pm; Tutorial 4pm to 4:30pm
Thursday 16th April: Lesson 5 9:30 to 10:30am; Lesson 6 1pm to 2pm; Tutorial 4pm to 4:30pm
The topics covered will include as a minimum:
- Series & parallel circuits and their components
- Fuses, the earth and domestic electricity
- Specific heat capacity, specific latent heat and internal energy
- Resolving forces and applying Newton’s laws to the application of forces
- Radioactivity and atomic structure
- Motors, magnetism and transformers
Please remember that this is a revision course and students will be expected to have some understanding of their work. The preparatory questions and videos will help students revise a basic understanding before we take the ideas further during the lessons. Students can always contact me with questions prior to lessons if they are concerned about any particular topics.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover the complete 2 year course in its entirety in just 3 days.
